GCACH is hiring a JEDI. No, we are not talking about a Star Wars knight, but a Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Specialist, a person who will lead a JEDI Initiative across our region.
Health disparities exist across our nine-county region as we have learned through numerous data presentations. While providers contracted with GCACH have specific milestones to address social determinants of health in their contracts, no specific program of work has been created by GCACH to address diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at the regional level, until now.
The Board approved this new position and a pilot project at their June 17th
meeting, and Damia Safford will be transitioning from her current role as office manager to a JEDI Specialist in mid-July. Damia will be organizing and coordinating a Speakers Bureau in Benton and Franklin Counties as the pilot project in order to highlight the numerous activities being undertaken by (J)DEI organizations, committees and efforts across the bi-county region.
Kimberly Harper, Chairman of the Tri-Cities Inclusion Council and Naima Chambers-Smith, Founder and CEO of the Tri-Cities Diversity & Inclusion Council will be speaking at the August 19th Columbia Center Rotary meeting as our kick-off! Please let Carol Moser (email@example.com
) know if you would like to be her Rotary guest.
