Leadership Council on Value-based Purchasing (Jan 2022)

Topic: Value-Based Purchasing (VBP)

As the new year begins, it is important to practice the pause and recognize the hard work that has transpired over the past few years. It has been our goal since before the pandemic to transform how healthcare is delivered by providing technical assistance to improve quality of care for patients—leading to better health outcomes and lower costs of care over time. Now is more imperative than ever… but how do we know if we are headed in the right direction?

In our collective pursuit of improving population health, we have invited some special partners to the upcoming Leadership Council on Thursday, January 20th from 9-11:30am. This includes a presentation by Dr. Patrick Jones, Executive Director of the Eastern Washington University Institute for Public Policy & Economic Analysis. He will be covering health service utilization trends with metrics from the Healthier Washington data dashboard, which focuses on Washington State Medicaid enrollees.

JD Fischer of the Health Care Authority (HCA) will share HCA’s strategic plan, roadmap, and survey analysis of value-based payments (a model that rewards health care providers with incentive payments for the quality of care they give to people with Medicare). We will also hear from the Managed Care Organizations on how their individual organizations are approaching value-based payments. GCACH will share some information on Multi-payer Primary Care Transformation Model (PCTM), a framework that aims to strengthen primary care through multi-payer payment reform and care delivery transformation, and explain how our Greater Columbia Cares Model (GCCM) has set the stage for success with this new model.

By the end of this Leadership Council, you will have a greater understanding of what to expect as Washington State embarks on their journey towards Value-Based Payments, the Primary Care Transformation Model, and how this will affect your organization over the next year.
