Nurses in these communities are often at the front line of treating our most vulnerable and sickest populations; in communities facing an aging population, a higher percentage of poverty, and lack of resources. In Washington, the nursing vacancy rate is expected to continually increase.

Topic Areas Covered during this focus group is as follows:

  • Defining rural and tribal health care
  • Regional nursing care need- demand, recruitment, retention, diversity, roles
  • Nursing specialization for rural and tribal health
  • Education program designed to meet needs of rural and tribal communities
  • Collaboration opportunities and barriers to address
